Our Mission

Small Miracles was founded through love to enhance the physical, social-emotional, cognitive and behavioral growth of individuals with special needs through God's grace by means of equine-assisted services and therapies.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God, and as such, it is the final authority in faith, life and standards for carrying out the mission of Small Miracles. We will keep the Word of God foremost in our minds and hearts as we lead this mission forward as the hands and feet of God.

Our Vision

Our vision is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs/disabilities and empower them to engage in life to their fullest potential. This process begins with the realization of being unconditionally loved and validated with an important role as a contributing community member.

Helping Those with Special Needs and/or Disabilities Live Their Life to the Fullest Potential

Founded in Love

Small Miracles was founded in 1995 by Mary Smith, RN. With the support of her family, she started a pilot program of equine activities and therapies to serve individuals with special needs. After 6 months, the response from the community was overwhelming. With God’s grace, the doors officially opened for Small Miracles in January of 1996 in Church Hill, TN.

Today, Small Miracles continues to grow both programmatically and fiscally through the guidance and support of an active board of directors, a giving community, dedicated professionals, and a caring and knowledgeable staff. Small Miracles operates its own facility, purchased and built in 1999, on 11 surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Small Miracles currently serves 300 individuals per year, and the wait list continues to grow.

Small Miracles is a Christian-based, non-profit organization and is a member of PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), the premier, international association that leads the advancement of equine-assisted services and supports its members through rigorously developed standards, credentialing and education.

It is our hope that all program participants realize that they are accepted, unconditionally loved, validated and have an important role within their family and community with a future full of promise.
