Small Miracles was founded in 1995 by Mary Smith, RN. With the support of her family, she started a pilot program of equine activities to serve individuals with special needs. After six months, the response from the community was overwhelming and there was a waiting list of more than 35 students. With God’s grace, doors officially opened for Small Miracles in January of 1996 in Church Hill, Tennessee.
Today, Small Miracles continues to grow both programmatically and fiscally through the guidance and support of an active board of directors, a giving community, dedicated professionals, and a caring and knowledgeable staff. Small Miracles operates its own facility, purchased and built in 1999, on 11 acres surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The organization currently serves approximately 100 students per week, more than 300 individuals per year, and the waiting list continues to grow.
